On the First Wednesday of Every Month, we substitute Vespers for “Evensong”

Evensong is the sung Anglican office of Evening Prayer which combines the Latin offices of Vespers and Compline, a liturgy more than 400 years old and one of the Church of England’s unique contributions to Western civilization. The United Methodist Church originally began as a renewal movement within the Church of England, in the mid-1700’s.

Evensong is normally about 30 minutes long. There is no sermon. Very much like Vespers, the service focuses on prayer. Unlike Vespers, much of the service is sung by the Chancel Choir. If you love the traditions of the Church and need a mid-week pick-me-up, this service is for you!
